Giving a Helping Hands to Our Neighbors

At Barratt American, we're proud to build a diverse range of homes for Southern California families at every stage of life.

We're equally proud to help our communities build something else that's also important: character, hope and a brighter future. As a company, we contribute financially, as well as with our time and expertise, to several very worthy and life-changing charities, projects, sponsorships and partnerships. These contributions are our way of giving back, not only to the communities we create, but to the greater community which we all live.

The Warrior Foundation

The Warrior Foundation is great organization that helps our fallen troops in easing their struggle through rehabilitation. This 100% volunteer group contributes to uniting families with their injured warriors, supplying the patients with activities, and providing transportation. Barratt American officials, Trade Partners, friends, and employees recently presented the Warrior Foundation and the Armed Forces YMCA a brand new 2007 10-passenger-mini-bus. The bus will be used to transport injured service members to treatment centers and appointments throughout San Diego County. Barratt American is also responsible for raising over $20,000 from employees to aid this wonderful foundation. Sandy Lehmkuhler, liaison for this foundation, has given most of her waking time to this effort for the past 3 years. She is always looking for donations and volunteers. For more information, email Sandy at warriorfoundation1@yahoo.com.

A Hope for Cancer Patients

These days, nearly every family is touched by cancer. It's a stark reality that Michael D. "Mick" Pattinson, president/CEO of Barratt American, knows all too well. Both his parents succumbed to the disease. That's why Mick is gratified that Barratt American and other homebuilders are helping give patients with cancer and other life-threatening diseases hope - namely, City of Hope. In 2006, the San Diego Construction Industries Alliance for City of Hope raised more than $200,000 for groundbreaking research, treatment and education at this pioneering medical center. In 2004, Mick was bestowed the Spirit of Life© Award - City of Hope's most prestigious honor.

HomeAid Project Playhouse

One of the most rewarding contributions goes to the Home Aid's Project Playhouse. A special auction was put on to raise money in an effort to provide shelter to homeless people in the Orange County Community. Barratt American was happy to produce a playhouse for this event that was later auctioned off.

Investing in our children's futures
As a builder of homes, families are close to our hearts - especially children who need safe, educational places in which to grow and thrive. It is our honor to support the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad. This selfless organization serves 1,700 children each year with programs that develop self-esteem, skills, character and responsibility in a nurturing, fun-filled environment.

Supporting a revered philanthropic organization
It is not surprising that Las Patronas calls their annual fundraising event the Jewel Ball. This venerable philanthropic organization is truly one of the gems of San Diego County. Las Patronas gives financial assistance to local non-profit organizations that provide valuable community services in health, education, social services and cultural arts. Barratt American is pleased to help Las Patronas make San Diego a better place to live for everyone.

Our charitable contributions
We thank these excellent organizations for the important work they do and are proud to play a part in their endeavors. At Barratt American, we invite you to join us in helping to improve the lives of the families and communities of Southern California. After all, each of us benefits when we work together, hand in hand.
